CogAT - The Cognitive Abilities Test is a national norm-referenced assessment used to determine a student's ability to learn in school.

CSAP - The Colorado Student Assessment Program is a state-mandated testing program, which measures students knowledge against state standards.

KLC - Kids Learning Centers are opportunities for students to share achievements and knowledge to the entire school community. These centers occur approximately 6 times a year.

MAP - The Measures of Academic Progress assessment is a computer adaptive test designed to give teachers real-time instructional information on students as well a national comparison. MAP is a computer adaptive assessment program that measures individual student growth from the beginning to the end of the school year. In 2007-2008 LPS students in grades 3-10 took both the reading and math assessment at the beginning and the end of the year. Many students were also designated to take a reading test in the middle of the year. Educators use the formative growth and achievement data throughout the year to develop targeted instructional strategies and to plan school improvement. MAP test results are reported immediately after completing each test and help educators make student focused, data-informed decisions.

PLC - Professional Learning Communities, all LPS schools provide time for teachers to meet together to have frequent, consistent, and data-driven conversations about student achievement. There are 10 late-start days built into the 2008-2009 school year calendar that allow time for PLCs to take place.
