 Meet Ms. Debbie O'Hara

My name is Debbie O’Hara. I am so happy to be a first grade teacher at Ames Elementary. I have taught at Ames for thirteen years, and absolutely love teaching the children in this community! I find teaching first grade very rewarding as there is so much growth that takes place during this phase of a child's educational experience.

I hold two degrees: a Bachelor of Science Degree in elementary education from Metro State College, and a Master of Science Degree in Education with emphasis on Literacy from Walden University in Minneapolis. An interesting fact about me is that I am a native of Littleton and a product of Littleton Public Schools. I went to South Elementary (currently Ralph Moody Elementary), Euclid, and Heritage. I feel very fortunate to have been born here in Colorado; the most beautiful state in the United States.

I hope you will stop by and visit Ames in the near future to see first-hand the dedicated staff and hard-working students in this learning community.

 Word Wall Words

We are learning to spell new words in first grade.  Each week we add 5 new high frequency words to our Word Wall.  Through various activities we learn to spell these words correctly and use them in our daily writing.  You can find the weekly words by clicking here.

An email from a soldier in IRAQ: Thanks for the video from your class.  Please let them know that we all enjoyed it in Iraq.  I promise that I will get an email to you soon with some answers to the questions the children wrote and sent me.
